Positivity in all Circumstances

Positivity in all Circumstances

"Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus." –1 Thessalonians 5:18

A friend recently posted on Facebook, "I'm not turning my clock back an hour on November 1. I don't want 2020 to last one more hour than it has to."

As you navigate the remaining months of this difficult year, I challenge you to think of someone in your life who had a positive attitude—no matter how bad things got. I can think of many, but my mother is the person who made the most impact on me through her positive attitude. She lost her dad when she was very young, nearly died several times in her youth, and worked harder than most kids. Her positivity stayed strong through all of that, and she continues to have a positive attitude today.

I didn't grow up with much, but I didn't know we were poor because Mom directed our focus to what we had, rather than what we lacked. She was a well of optimism, and her example continues to help me today. It's easy to follow the crowd down the road of pessimism, but at the end of the day, what does that gain us?

Very few of the precious boys and girls at Dakota Boys and Girls Ranch had someone like my mom steeping them in positivity. But think about it—now they are at the Ranch and we are showing them another way to think, giving them a safe place to lay their head, and introducing them to Jesus. 2020 may be their best year yet!

And that's all because of you. Because you care, you give. And thanks to your gifts, children are hearing about Jesus for the first time, children are being heard, children are healing. Because of you, 2020 is the year someone cared about them.

Thank you for being a positive influence for our precious kids.

Blessings,

Tim
