Much to be Thankful For

Good organizations require many components. Good leadership, a committed staff, a strong and compelling mission, and people like you who believe in the important work we do. Dakota Boys and Girls Ranch is blessed to have all of these—and because of our combined efforts, hurting children find their way. I am so thankful.

I am thankful for our board members. Last week, our boards of directors came to our Fargo campus and served everyone a big turkey dinner, complete with pie. I watched as they talked, laughed, and engaged with our kids. I am so grateful for our leadership. They understand our ministry, work fervently on these kid’s behalf, and are some of the most kindhearted people I have ever met.

I am thankful for my boss. Several of our board members told me how highly they regard our CEO, Joy Ryan, and I agree. She inspires people around her to be their best selves and do their best work. She goes above and beyond to fulfill our ministry today and guide us into the future.

I am thankful for my coworkers. When children arrive at the Ranch, our amazing direct care staff show them love, support, and encouragement. As the kids struggle to control behaviors, and even when they make bad choices, Ranch therapists, teachers, occupational therapists, nurses, and more surround them with grace, reminding them that each moment is an opportunity to start fresh.

I am thankful for you. Meeting Ranch donors and telling our kids stories is an honor. Thank you for helping these precious children experience love and kindness, so they have reasons to be grateful.

I am thankful for God, who is at work in the lives of our kids and staff. Dakota Boys and Girls Ranch really is a place like no other. Together we are making a difference, one child at a time.

God bless!

Janet Zinke
Senior Development Officer
