It truly is a small world

Last week, I traveled across Missouri to visit friends and churches who support the children at Dakota Boys and Girls Ranch. They all have such love and compassion for these precious children—children they’ve never met.

My first stop on Sunday morning was to Christ Memorial Lutheran Church in St. Louis. In his sermon, the pastor reminded us that every one of us is doing important work for God, no matter their title or job. I was inspired by his sermon and thought of our kids—I am so glad they have a chance to hear this message while they are at Ranch.

As I was driving from Christ Memorial to meet with a donor, I happened upon another of our donor churches. I didn’t have much time, but I saw people walking to their cars as the service was ending, and felt God nudging me to stop.   As I walked into the church, the choir director approached me to ask if he could help. As it turned out, he knew the Ranch well through his father, a former North Dakota LCMS pastor who had helped with the ministry of the Ranch in the early days. It really is a small world—and you can find people who love the Ranch everywhere!

As I travel, I am blessed to meet people who open their churches, homes, and hearts to me. I ate amazing quiche at one home, and at another became a BIG fan of Gooey Butter Cake (I have both recipes if you are interested.)

As much as I’d like to visit everyone who might be interested in the Ranch myself—to answer your questions, tell you about our amazing kids, and share what is going on in our ministry—I know that isn’t possible. But, I do have several co-workers who are also on the road—and they are wonderful people who are equally passionate about the work we do. If you’d like one of us to visit you, please let us know by emailing us at info@DakotaRanch.org or calling 1-800-344-0957. We’d love to tell you all about our ministry to kids and families.

God bless you.

We would love to send you the Ranch Voice magazine we publish three times a year. It is filled with stories about the precious children who find hope and healing at the Ranch. Call 1-800-344-0357 to request your free subscription.
