Should old acquaintance be forgot and never cross your mind?

Should old acquaintance be forgot and never cross your mind?

Should old acquaintance be forgot and never cross your mind?

Should old acquaintance be forgot and never cross your mind?

This question is repeated at New Year's celebrations across the world as people ring in the New Year with the familiar song, "Auld Land Syne."

When I hear the words, or sing; "Auld Lang Syne," I often think of friends who sang it with me at long ago New Year's celebrations. Other times I think of loved ones I have lost. As I think of each of these people, and the many years since we last met, I answer this question emphatically, "Yes! We must always remember!"

But for the children at Dakota Boys and Girls Ranch, remembering the past can be unpleasant and filled with painful memories. Fortunately, they have made their way to the Ranch, where they can work through these memories with one of our talented therapists. They learn to control their reactions when something triggers a painful memory. Ranch children may want to forget their stories, but it is in recalling these memories that they grow beyond them.

In the last fiscal year, the Ranch served over 1,200 children and their families. Because of your generosity, these children and families can look ahead to the next year, and all those that follow, with hope. Opportunity abounds to those who hold hope in their hearts.

I pray that the upcoming year is filled with blessings for you and your family. May the love of Christ guide your way and lead your steps.

Happy New Year!
