"For as in Adam all die, so in Christ all will be made alive." -1 Corinthians 15.22
As Christians, we know that God loves us, forgives our sins, and brings us into eternal life, but as humans, facing our own mortality can be uncomfortable. This may be why so many people in the United States pass on without a will. Another reason could be that talking about money with others can also feel uncomfortable.
Yet, we all want to leave a legacy of some type after we are gone. Perhaps it is easier to think of more happy things when considering the inevitable. What do you want to be remembered for? What values and morals would you like to pass on? How will you leave the world a better place?
I recently read a Forbes article which cited that 65 percent of high net worth adults surveyed by U.S. Trust said they'd rather their children grow up to be charitable than wealthy. Another survey stated that passing on values tops the list and financial assets come in last when it comes to importance.
When we lose someone we love, it is not the material things that give us comfort, but the memories of our relationship and time together.
