Dakota Boys & Girls Ranch Wraparound Program

What is Wraparound?
Wraparound is defined as a “philosophy” of care that provides individualized, comprehensive, community-based services and supports to children and adolescents with serious emotional and/or behavioral disturbances so they can be reunited and/or remain with their families and communities.

This process involves the child and family in designing a unique set of community services and natural supports individualized for that child and family to assist them in achieving positive outcomes.

Wraparound engages families as decision makers in the team process and family involvement is critical. Through wraparound, families develop an effective group of supports, increase their sense of ability, and acquire new skills for managing the needs of their child, and gain access to resources they need to foster brighter futures for them.

The process begins with several team members, who know the child best, meeting with those that will be providing services. During this step a comprehensive plan is developed. This plan is developed on the unique values, beliefs, cultures, strengths, and need of each family and the community where they reside.

In doing so, the team works to design a process that would assist with coordinating services that build the best supports for that child and family in the community where they live. In doing so, reducing the risk of future out of home placement(s).
